Setup a Archival Cloud Drive
Last updated on : 2021-06-11
Important
If you have an organisational policy for archiving or data storage, follow that instead of this guide.
Instructions
What you should know
The exact steps and setup will depend on the other services you are already using. In this guide I'll use Google Drive as an example, but the same can be achieved using OneDrive, iCloud, or Dropbox.
Note that users on a regular Google Account get 15GB of storage space free. This is considerably more than Microsoft, which offers 5GB free space on OneDrive and Appleβs iCloud, which offers 5GB as well.
What you should do
1. Sign up for a New Account
We will use Google Drive in the following steps, but you can recreate the steps for your preferred cloud storage solution if you prefer not to use Google Drive
- Sign up for a new Google Account, with a Strong Password stored in BitWarden.
Note: We are creating a different account from your personal or work Gmail, so that we can keep your archives separate.
2. Add the New account to Your Devices
Add the new Google account to your π€ ANDROID phone and π iOS.
3. Install Google Drive on your Devices
If you don't have Google Drive on your phone yet, get it from the Play Store on π€ ANDROID, or the App Store π iOS.
On Windows and MacOS, you can simply log into the web-client.
